In 2009, MTV’s Jersey Shore put New Jersey’s Seaside Heights on the map. The cast of guidos and guidettes made the beach town its playground. But now, season two of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has been banned from its ancestral home. Click through the gallery for all the details on the location drama.

Seaside Heights is legendary to any
Jersey Shore fan. The gang stayed in a house right next to the beach, worked in the souvenir shop Shore Store, and spent hours walking up and down the boardwalk, often drunk. The show brought fame — and tourism dollars — to the town as well. You can rent the
Jersey Shore house for
$1200 a night.

But apparently local officials view that fame as infamy. They refused to give MTV permits to film in their old, iconic stomping grounds for season two of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

The Seaside Heights Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz
told Us Weekly that the production company was recently “advised that the Borough remains disinterested in having the show filmed in Seaside Heights on any long term or regular basis.” They decided to ban the show because it “does not fit with our vision for the community as a family vacation destination.”

But don’t worry — they weren't completely heartless. The city gave the show permits for two days of filming last month so the cast could say goodbye to the house, the shore, and the pier. The gang also got to see the improvements made to the area after Hurricane Sandy. Vaz told Us Weekly, “We were swayed in large part by a desire to say ‘thank you’ to the cast for raising money during their Restore the Shore Telethon.”

Now, the cast will be filming in another famous Jersey shore town, Wildwood. But apparently no one warned the Wildwood mayor:
He told local news that the town’s chamber of commerce didn’t want them! But if they shoot at a private house, they don’t need permission from the town’s government.

Earlier in the summer, the show filmed in Las Vegas, where cast member
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro got
into an altercation with baby mama
Jen Harley. She was later arrested. If that’s the kind of drama that follows this group, it’s understandable why none of the shore towns want the headache.
