Instagram, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.”

Mountbatten-Windsor is a combination of
Prince Philip and
Queen Elizabeth’s surnames. Fans of
The Crown will remember that the controversial decision to hyphenate their last names for their future descendants was covered on the first season of the Netflix show.

Unlike his cousins George, Charlotte and Louis, Archie isn’t given a royal title at birth. Queen Elizabeth could have granted him one, but it seems his parents have decided not to go that path. When Prince Charles becomes king, Archie will be given the title prince, but he or his parents might decide not to use it.
