Brad Pitt Explains How He & Kanye West Actually Became Friends

The actor attended the rapper’s Sunday Service.

Fans were surprised when Brad Pitt popped up at Kanye West’s ultra-exclusive Sunday Service. The gospel-themed gatherings are held weekly at his home with Kim Kardashian, and attract many of the KarJenner clan’s closest friends. Now, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star is explaining just how he and Kanye, 42, became friends at all.

Brad, 55, told Extra about the services at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, Ad Astra. “It’s really beautiful… I think what he’s doing is pretty special,” he said. “It’s this real celebratory thing of people and it’s a really loving vibe and it’s beautiful — it’s huge, so beautiful. I find it really special.”

He said he and Kanye first connect by “just running [into each other] through the years.” And he had nothing but kind words for the often-controversial superstar.

“I love that there’s a Kanye out in the world, like, messing things up, you know?” Brad said. “Envisioning the future and, you know, we can’t forget his music. He was one of the first to come out and be raw and open — he should always get credit for that.”

Kanye has been holding the services, which mix gospel music, Christianity and spirituality, since January. They inspired his new album, Jesus Is King, which is set to be released on September 27.

But not all of Kanye’s family members were excited to see that Brad had started coming to the services. Kanye’s sister-in-law Kendall Jenner revealed to Jimmy Fallon that when she saw Brad, she ran the other way!

“I just saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and it was so good and he just, like, gets better with age. So I was like, ‘I gotta go,’’” the 23-year-old joked.

“Isn’t there a saying like don’t ever meet your superhero or whatever? I don’t know, I just love him so much. I’m just...I’m gonna leave it at that and leave. I get nervous,” Kendall explained.
