Hugh Jackman Trying to Shield Girlfriend Sutton Foster From Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Snobbishness’
Ryan Reynold’s bromance with Deadpool and Wolverine costar Hugh Jackman has hit a snag.
An insider tells Star that the 49-year-old isn’t a huge fan of the Aussie star’s new love Sutton Foster, 50. “Ryan isn’t about to tell Hugh to break up with her, but he’s also doing nothing to bring Sutton into the tight-knit group of A-listers he associates with.”
The insider says it’s a matter of “status.” While Sutton is known more for her Broadway roles and TV shows such as Younger, she’s not a household name.
“Ryan sees himself as a movie star and a mogul, and he’s careful about the company he keeps,” says the source. (Just look at his romantic history: Before he wed Blake Lively, he was married to Scarlett Johansson and engaged to Alanis Morissette.) “To put it into high school terms, Ryan is the homecoming king and captain of the football team, and Sutton is one of the geeky theater girls.”
Ever the hero, Hugh, 57, is stepping up to shield his girlfriend. “Hugh and Sutton have to sequester themselves from Ryan and his family,” says the insider. “He wants to protect her from his snobbishness.”
