Brad Pitt proposed to Jennifer Aniston in 1999 with a sparkler featuring a galaxy-like swirl of diamonds he designed with jeweler Silvia Grassi Damiani. Justin Theroux popped the question on his 41st birthday in 2012 with a massive 8-carat diamond. “It’s a rock, I know,” Jen later told The New York Times. “It took me a while to get used to it.”
The Dresses
Former Prada designer Lawrence Steele custom-made the white glass-beaded, low-back halter-style gown Jen wore to wed Brad in 2000. For her 2015 vow exchange with Justin, she reportedly bought a strapless, flowy, knee-length frock in a creamy hue right off the rack, adding a J.Crew veil.
The Locations
Jen became the first Mrs. Pitt atop a bluff at the edge of a rented five-acre Malibu property overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The backyard of her $21 million Bel Air home, which she bought the same year she fell for Justin, hosted her second wedding ceremony.
The Music
Grammy winners Melissa Etheridge and Billy Preston, a 40-member gospel choir, and then-12-year-old Frank Sinatra–style vocalist Dakota Horvath were among the many musicians who performed on Brad and Jen’s big day. At her celebration with Justin 15 years later, pal Sia sang “Chandelier.”
The Guests
About 200 guests celebrated with Brad and Jen including her Friends costars (except Matt LeBlanc, who was stuck on a movie set) plus Cameron Diaz, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek and David Spade. Jimmy Kimmel officiated Jen’s second wedding in front of 70 guests like Jason Bateman, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Ellen DeGeneres.
Special Touches
Brad and Jen famously wrote their own vows: She promised to always make his “favorite banana milkshake,” he swore to “split the difference on the thermostat.” Jen and Justin invited friends to what they believed was his 44th birthday party — then surprised them with a wedding ceremony.
