The Golden Bachelor’sMel Owens does not see things the same way Cindy Angelcyk Cullers does.
As Star reported earlier today, viewers saw Cullers break up with the 66-year-old retired NFL player during her Fantasy Suite date on the Wednesday, November 12, finale episode of The Golden Bachelor. Cullers wanted a proposal, and Owens was not confident he could give her one.
“He’s not interested in making any type of commitments for several years,” Cullers told cameras after she self-eliminated. “I’m in my golden years. I’m 60 years old, and I’m not interested in being put on hold. He is just not my person.”
During the After the Final Rose, Cullers relayed a similar sentiment to host Jesse Palmer.
“If we had written a book, if we had gotten on the same page, it would’ve been, like, the best fairy tale. It was a start of something remarkable. It could have been amazing,” she shared. “He wanted a comic book. He wanted something shorter and lighter, and no commitment. And I’m ready for everything.”
In an interview with Us Weekly published on Thursday, November 13 Owens — who gave his final rose to Peg Munson and is still going strong with her — responded to Cullers’ statement.

“I’m not gonna comment on her frivolous, you know, trite little comment because it’s just not worth commenting on,” he told the outlet. “But, like I told her, me, personally, I know that I’m not gonna take a leap of faith like that. My life doesn’t work that way.”
Munson jumped into the conversation, telling Us Weekly she wasn’t expecting Owens to be “a knight in shining armor to rescue and save” her.
“Like Peg said, there’s more to it than just going through the journey and then at the end, just because the show says you’re supposed to get married or propose, [you do]. That’s just not real,” Owens remarked.
“[Cindy] wanted to have the ending before the journey was over. And that’s just not how the journey goes,” he continued. “She didn’t want to go through the entire journey to see what happened. She wanted the answers to the test before the test was given. So, I’m not worried about it at all.”
Owens also told the publication that his “connection” with Munson was “much stronger than it was with Cindy,” noting he thought Cullers “wanted to save face and exit before the final process was over.”
