For years, Candace Cameron Bure has held up her family life with husband Val Bure and their three kids as an example of Christian living. Indeed, the 49-year-old sometimes caused controversy with her strict views.
In 2022, for example, the Full House alum caught flak when she decamped to The Great American Family channel, arguing in interview with The Wall Street Journalthat it would “keep traditional marriage at the core,” unlike her previous holiday-movie home, the more gay-friendly Hallmark Channel.

So, it was a surprise when the Dancing With the Stars season 18 contestant recently opened up about trouble in her marriage with her NHL vet hubby, 51. “It was going south quickly,” Candace said on her self-titled podcast, adding that she and Val were even considering divorce — a taboo in her world.
Not surprisingly, it was their kids — and the Bible — that showed them a way through. Son Lev, 25, sat them down for a 45-minute sermon about marriage, she revealed. As Lev said on the podcast, “It’s only gonna happen through Jesus.”
