Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Escape to England Over Disillusionment with US
Sussex pals Ellen DeGeneres, 66, and Portia de Rossi, 51, are also running away, trading Montecito, Calif., for England’s bucolic Cotswolds. After ending her syndicated talk show in 2022 on the heels of a toxic workplace scandal, Ellen, who returned to stand-up for a non-apology tour, “was disillusioned when her comedy comeback failed,” says a source. “Plus, she and Portia hate where the U.S. is headed, the hate and divisiveness. So they decided to leave.”
In November, actress-producer Eva Longoria also confirmed she and her family had abandoned L.A. and now split their time between Spain and Mexico. Though the 49-year-old denied claims she fled because she was unhappy with the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, she admits she doesn’t miss “the noise” of American politics. “I’m privileged,” Eva told Marie Claire magazine. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky.”
