Drew Barrymore kisses — and tells!
During the Monday, April 6, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the talk show host, 51, welcomed guest Amanda Peet to discuss the 54-year-old actress’ show Your Friends & Neighbors and her experience with breast cancer, among other topics.
But first, the 50 First Dates star spilled some tea for her audience.
“I miss the ‘80s,” Barrymore said to Peet as the two sat down on her couch. “By the way, speaking of, did we make out at Carrie Fisher’s house?”
Peet, laughing at the admission, replied, “I feel like that might have happened.”
“It was at Carrie Fisher’s house,” Barrymore reiterated, adding: “Listen, again, life used to be so much more fun.”
“Sometimes I wonder, though, if it’s ‘cause we’re older,” Peet said, to which Barrymore responded: “I guess maybe you grow out of that kind of behavior, especially when you become a parent. That changed me entirely.”
Peet, who has been married to Game of Thrones cocreator David Benioff since 2006, has three children with the screenwriter: daughters Frances, 19, and Molly, 16, and son Henry, 11.
The mother of two shared a close bond with Fisher before the legendary actress’ death in December 2016 at age 60.
It is also because of the late Star Wars actress that Barrymore’s role in the 1998 rom-com The Wedding Singer was so successful.
According to a Yahoo retrospective on the Adam Sandler-led film, Fisher “fleshed out the female roles,” director Frank Coraci revealed.
“The trickiest thing about a romantic comedy is you pretty much know how it’s gonna end, so you have to try to make enough peaks and valleys and near-misses,” Coraci explained. “You gotta [make the audience] think they’re not gonna be together.”
