Bruce Willis has found a new, happy normal amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia, a source tells Star.
“He’s constantly being written off for dead, but Bruce is actually doing a lot better lately,” says the source. “It’s not all gloom and doom in his world by any means.”
On November 6, the former action hero was spotted enjoying the sunshine during an outing with his caregiver in L.A.
Flashing that signature movie star smile, Bruce, 70, held onto his companion’s hand to steady himself as they took in the fresh air.
“Bruce doesn’t just sit and stare at the TV all day,” notes the source. “He still has more life to live, just at his own pace.”

Two years after announcing the actor’s sad diagnosis — which is known to cause language issues, loss of motor skills and shifts in temperament — wife Emma Heming Willisrevealed that she and daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, no longer live with him.
He now resides in a separate, one-story home, where Bruce has 24-hour care.
“Bruce has good days and bad days like everybody does,” says the source. “A ton of people are looking after him and making sure he’s comfortable.”

During a late summer interview with Diane Sawyer, Emma said she stops by to see her husband of 18 years “a lot.”
According to the 47-year-old, Bruce is “still very mobile” and “in really great health, overall,” despite his struggles to communicate.
“His family visits all the time,” confirms the source, noting that Bruce is also dad to Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore. “Even if he can’t fully express his gratitude, he seems to know how lucky he is to have so much support. He can feel the love.”
