Bill Belichick is setting the record straight about girlfriend Jordon Hudson‘s influence on his career at the University of North Carolina.
The football coach, 74, pushed back against the perception that Hudson, 25, plays a role in how he runs the Tar Heels during an interview with The Wall Street Journalpublished on Wednesday, September 16.
“The way the story was picked up was a long way from that,” Belichick said of speculation surrounding Hudson’s involvement after he took the UNC job. “Like, ‘She’s trying to be the general manager of the team,’ and it’s so ridiculous.”
Belichick explained that Hudson has helped coordinate his personal schedule, but insisted her involvement has nothing to do with his responsibilities at UNC after he was hired in 2024.
“When I took the job here, it was December, and at that time I was doing five TV shows, the radio show, I had a book coming out,” he told the outlet. “I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job.”

The former New England Patriots coach said he sent an email after arriving at UNC asking for requests regarding his personal appearances to be forwarded to Hudson so they could be coordinated separately from his university work.
However, Belichick claimed the email was subsequently mischaracterized as evidence that Hudson was involved in everything he did.
“That’s just a flat-out lie,” he said.
Hudson’s involvement in Belichick’s professional affairs has previously attracted attention. According to FOIAball, the former Bridgewater State University cheerleader filed multiple public records requests with UNC beginning in December 2025, seeking university communications that referenced her and Belichick.
Belichick told The Wall Street Journal that he had not seen Hudson’s requests when she submitted them.
“I don’t want to speak for her,” he said. “I think if you look at her requests, you would probably find that she was asking for things that had already been sent.”

The eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach also downplayed Hudson’s interest in the sport itself.
“If you met Jordon, I mean, football’s not really at the top of her [list],” he said.
As Star readers know, the couple reportedly started dating in 2023 before taking their relationship public the following year.
Belichick was asked about how they met during a 2025 appearance on CBS Sunday Morning with Tony Dokoupil, but Hudson quickly shut down the question, saying, “We’re not talking about this,” per ESPN. Following that interview, he told The New York Times in a statement that they had first met on a flight in 2021.
