ESPN’s Mina Kimes took issue with the 42-year-old athlete — who previously declared that the 2026 NFL season will be his last — sharing in a Tuesday, September 8 episode of Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio that he’s “hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife” after he retires.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback clarified that his wife, Brittani, however, is not currently pregnant, though he said he hopes she will be by next year.
Kimes called out his “odd” phrasing while appearing on a September 8 episode of The Sports Gossip Show. After cohost Charlotte Wilder said his comments “grossed me out a little bit,” Kimes echoed that sentiment.
“I just don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone use those words in that way. That was my reaction,” said Kimes, “You know the Bart Simpson [quote], ‘What an odd thing to say.'”
“It’s a strange way of putting it, as opposed to, ‘I want to start a family,'” she continued.

Not much is known about Rodgers’ wife, whose full identity remains a mystery. The two married in the 2025 offseason, though have kept much about their personal life together private.
“I think what’s kind of confusing to me… is that he keeps bringing it up? He’s the one who brings it up a lot,” said Kimes.
“On the one hand, you’re very private about this, which is totally your right. But on the other hand, you bring it up a lot, dude! Like out of nowhere,” she added. “I don’t really know how to parse that. So I’m happy for him that he’s happy, but I guess the confusing part to me is, like, what actual level of privacy he is seeking in all of this.”
While the NFL player did share a rare look at his family life back in July — while hanging out with parents Darla and Ed Rodgers, as well as older brother, Luke — he explained on Mad Dog Sports Radio that fans shouldn’t expect more of that in the future.
“There’s been a narrative out there. There’s not been a lot of information that’s truthful about it,” Aaron said, referring to rumors of a rift between him and his family members. “And I think that the personal life should stay personal and private. But I feel like it was part of the full-circle to just one time post something, and never again. So that that narrative can finally be put to rest.”
