Meghan Markle‘s struggle to find staff in the U.K. is causing her stress, a source tells Star.
“Work culture in America, and especially in Hollywood, is very much 24/7,” Star‘s source explains. “There’s a sense of urgency with every little thing, so it’s normal to communicate at all hours of the day, whereas that just isn’t seen as proper etiquette in British society.”
In 2018, Buckingham Palace opened an investigation after the Suits star was accused of driving away two personal assistants, per the BBC. Meghan and Prince Harry‘s former employees also dubbed the As Ever founder a “dictator in high heels” in a 2024 expose published by The Hollywood Reporter. Most recently, Page Six reported on Monday, August 24, that Meghan’s “snobbish” behavior made hiring housekeepers in Montecito, California impossible.
However, “Meghan insists there’s no merit to all the talk about her being some sort of taskmaster,” the source reveals. “Yes, she wants to hire people that are hardworking and respectful, but so does anyone that is staffing up their household.”

The duchess’ reputation isn’t the only issue.
“She doesn’t have the budget she used to, so the pool of candidates is bound to be smaller,” the source says of Harry, 41, and Meghan’s staffing struggle. “It feels unfair to her that people are trying to infer that’s some sort of reflection on her as a boss.”
At the end of the day, “she’s going to take her time finding the best candidates,” adds the source, “and if it means taking on more work herself in the meantime, so be it.”
