When it comes to his athletic career, Aaron Rodgers is getting advice from his new wife’s family — not his own.

In an interview with The Athletic published Friday, August 1, the NFL star, 41, revealed what, or rather, who led him to sign the one-year $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in June.

“I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia,” the former Green Bay Packers quarterback told the outlet. “She’s 20 and she’s the brains of the family; you just have to ask her.”

The Super Bowl champion laughed, then added, “No — but that is partially serious for sure. Every team that I talked to, I said, ‘Listen, if I play, I’m not going to take a ton of money. I’ve made a ton of money. I don’t need the money.’”

In a June press conference, Aaron revealed that he’s been married for “a couple of months” after a reporter pointed out he was wearing a wedding ring. (Aaron did not confirm his wife’s identity, but it is believed to be his girlfriend, Brittani.)

Aaron’s seemingly strong bond with his in-laws draws a strong contrast to his strained relationship with his relatives, including his brother Jordan Rodgers, who found love with Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher on season 12 of The Bachelorette in 2016.

As Star previously reported, a source told the Daily Mail in June that Jordan, 36, and his wife, JoJo, 34, were not in attendance for Aaron’s big day, noting, “This is not a close family unit at all.”

“Jordan and JoJo didn’t go to the wedding and don’t even know anything really about Brittani,” the source revealed. “What they’ve heard is secondhand from his parents.”

The source claimed the couple was hurt that Aaron skipped out on their 2022 nuptials.

“They are still angry that Aaron didn’t go to their wedding,” the source explained. “He didn’t want to be with his brother on the biggest day of his life, so why should they twist themselves up over this wedding?”

Later that month, Aaron made a rare comment about his family on the Pat McAfee Show, confirming they were not in communication as he asked the public to respect his privacy.

“Any other ridiculous stories out there about my family that I don’t talk to, they wouldn’t know any information about me, like leave them alone,” he remarked.

However, in his December 2024 Netflix docuseries Enigma, Aaron spoke about the rift with his loved ones, sharing that he was open to reconciliation one day.

“I don’t want them to fail, to struggle, to have any strife or issues. I don’t wish any ill will on them at all,” he said. “It’s like this: We’re just at different steps on the timeline of our own journeys.”
