Imagine Angelina Jolie making a cameo on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?! As it turns out, that far-fetched fantasy might have ad at least the seed of possibility, had a long-ago romance between new series star Eileen Davidson and Angie’s father, Jon Voight, fully flowered into a walk down the aisle!
In fact, Eileen and Jon, who’s 20 years her senior, were actually rumored at one point during their romance to be planning their wedding! “They had a passionate relationship, that’s for sure,” a Voight family insider tells Star. “Eileen was a top soap opera vixen on The Young and the Restless and one of the sexiest women on TV — Jon was smitten.”
Eileen met Jon when she was 29 while auditioning for the female lead in Eternity, a romantic drama about reincarnation that the Oscar winner was producing. Jon “immediately felt Eileen was perfect for the role,” says a source. And just as their characters in the movie became lovers, so did the duo off set as we..
“They went out for quiet dinners all over L.A. and showed up at holiday parties together,” another source adds. The couple even made a sexy splash when they attended the People’s Choice Awards in L.A. in March 1989.
When their relationship ignited, Angelina was just 13 years old. Jon and Angie’s beloved mom, the late Marcheline Bertrand, had divorced in 1980. “When Jon and Eileen’s romance finally ran its course later in 1989, everyone assumed it was their twenty-year age difference that did it in,” the family insider admits. “But I think it would have been hard for Angie to accept anyone else as her father’s wife, because she was so close to her mom. And Jon still held the torch for Marcheline, right up until she passed away in 2007.”
“I think that’s why he never remarried — and why Eileen may have come to the realization that she’d never have a real future with Jon, no matter how hot their relationship was,” the insider adds. “It was probably for the best in the end — but the thought of an Angie connections to the Housewives really is kind of delicious.”
