The winner of Season 3 of The X-Factor won’t be named until tonight, but already there’s talk of what’s going to happen next year. This week, reports surfaced that Season 2 and 3 judge, Demi Lovato, wouldn’t be returning…news which Simon Cowell confirmed after the show on Wednesday.
“To avoid speculation. Because of her tour next year it was unlikely she could do that and X factor,” he tweeted, referring to the singer’s Neon Lights tour that begins in February. “She and I have had our ups and downs but now consider her a true friend. The door will always be open. And thank you Demi. Simon.x”
Demi has yet to comment on the news herself, and there’s been no word about the fate of her fellow judges, Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland. However, Simon did mention some more interesting news. “Next year on our shows the rules change. I had a light bulb moment two weeks ago,” he added.
The X-Factor has struggled in ratings this fall, particularly compared to The Voice, so changing things up may be just what the show needs.
