Trouble seems to be following Justin Bieber around every corner during his current stay in South America! Argentinians are furious after the singer swept their country’s flag off the stage while he was performing there on Saturday night. The incident was caught on video.
But while the 19-year-old has remained tight-lipped about other scenarios he’s faced recently (i.e. being videotaped sleeping by a Brazilian girl), he took the time to address this specific situation on Twitter with an explanation.
“heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and im shocked,” he wrote. “I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there. people throw stuff on my stage all show and i get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. that video i saw a bra and thought……it was a shirt. Im being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina……or the people of Argentina or the fans. Im so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake.”
To sum things up: as with any other normal show, Justin was trying to clear the stage of shirts and bras thrown by fans so he wouldn’t trip. At this point, it’s not even confirmed whether or not there was even an actual flag on stage at all.
“so once again to the people of Argentina. Im sorry if that was taken the wrong way and im sorry for my mistake. I hope u can accept this,” he added. “..and I loved my time there performing for you and look forward to coming back. I gave my all and I know the fans did there too. te amo. I would never do anything to disrespect my fans. I dont like having to defend myself but this time it was needed as I mean no disrespect.”
While in South America, the pop star has also been charged with vandalism, and he abruptly ended a concert early after being hit with a water bottle. Time to go home yet?
