It’s a battle of the pop princesses! Fans are patiently waiting the release of new music from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, both coming this fall, but over the weekend, we got a little taste sooner than expected.
On Saturday, a snippet from Gaga’s song “Applause,” set for an Aug. 19 release, hit the Internet. “YOU JUST COULDNT WAIT THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR ONE SATURDAY,” she tweeted, angrily, after the leak. Meanwhile, Katy’s single “Roar” also leaked on Saturday, causing her to change the plans for a big debut and release the song early on iTunes.
“@ladygaga what a WILD weekend so far… claws out, paws up! Looking forward to puttin my hands up & making them touch too!,” Katy tweeted. Gaga also showed support for her fellow pop star and wrote, “Wanna grab some shovels and f— up some hackers? @katyperry excited to hear your ROAR, sorry to hear about your truck!”
John Mayer’s ladylove has been promoting her new album Prism by sending a gold semi-truck around the country for fans to spot. Unfortunately, the truck recently got into a minor fender bender…hence Gaga’s tweet.
Katy’s album is set to drop on Oct. 22, while Lady Gaga will release hers in November.
