Things are far from over for Real Housewives of New Jersey couple Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice. The couple walked hand-in-hand into their hearing for (multiple) fraud charges on Tuesday, and were eventually released on $500,000 bail bonds each.
Additionally, Teresa and Joe had to hand over their passports, and will not be allowed to leave New York/New Jersey until their federal hearing on Aug. 14. In addition to the 39-count indictment against the couple, it was also revealed during the hearing that Joe is not a U.S. citizen, and that he’ll be subjected to drug testing.
The couple was charged with conspiracy to commit mail, wire, bank and bankruptcy fraud, and making false statements on loan applications. Should they be found guilty, they’re facing up to 30 years in prison, however, as of yesterday, both Teresa and Joe’s lawyers say they will fight the charges and plead “not guilty.”
