It was quite a scary moment for Madonna at the 2015 BRIT Awards earlier this week -- the singer took a tumble during her performance of "Living For Love" at the show! Now, she's opening up about what exactly went down to cause the jaw-dropping fall.
"I was thrown a wrench right at the beginning of the performance," the 56-year-old entertainer explained. "I was asked to start much further back, and so I had to walk further." (Picture by: Splash News)
But the real trouble started when the choreography kicked in, and backup dancers, who were supposed to sweep the iconic singer's cape off her back, had a bit of trouble. "My two lovely dancers basically strangled me off the stage," she continued. "I had two choices -- I could either be strangled, or fall. I chose fall."(Picture by: Splash News)
Unfortunately, the cape was proving to be a problem from before the performance even began. "Everyone was worried my cape was going to slide off, so they tied it really tight around my neck," Madonna admitted. "So here I am, marching in like the Queen, and I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled the silky string...and it wouldn't come undone." (Picture by: Splash News)
As a longtime veteran of the business, though, Madonna knows the show must go on, and she finished the performance like a champ. Afterward, a doctor diagnosed her with "a little bit of whiplash." "I had a man standing over me with a flashlight til 3am to make sure I wasn't compos mentis." she revealed. (Photo by: SplashNews)
"It was a nightmare," she concluded. "I actually created a horror show for everyone!" Let's just say we probably won't be seeing too many capes in her future performances! (Photo by: Jon Furniss / Corbis)
