Jason and Maddie Duggar love kids – but they aren’t ready to be parents yet.
The young couple opened up on their decision to wait to expand the ever-growing Duggar brood on the Wednesday, August 13, installment of theJinger and Jeremy Podcast.
“We are not expecting at all!” Maddie, 21, playfully informed her in-laws, Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo. “We are not trying to be expecting.”
Jason’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, had 19 children throughout their more than 40-year marriage and their kids have since welcomed a whopping 39 grandchildren into the family.
While Jason, 25, and Maddie both like children and even get “baby fever” at times, Maddie said she wanted to just “enjoy this time” together as they develop their personal relationship as newlyweds.
“I can always get pregnant later on, Lord willing,” she added. “Right now, we just want to chill.”

She also clarified that she doesn’t plan on becoming a mom for the first time until she’s out of college.
“I have one year of school left,” Maddie explained.
Jason and Maddie tied the knot on October 3, 2024, at the Estate at Sweetwater Creek in Tennessee. Prior to their big day, she confessed she was excited to have “everybody together” to celebrate them.
“Especially for us, because I’m from Tennessee, and so half my family lives in Tennessee and Kentucky, and then we’re moving to Arkansas,” she told People at the time. “Just being able to see everybody in one place. It’s just a big party where everybody gets together.”
