Janelle Brown views polygamy very differently from Christine Brown and her husband, David Woolley.

According to Us Weekly, in a November episode of the TLC show, Woolley heavily criticized plural marriage, alleging the practice is used as a tactic to “control women.” He also revealed his older sister, who was in a plural marriage, became“mentally damaged” from the “kind of crap that her husband pulled on her.”

In a sneak peek for the upcoming episode of the Sister Wives One-on-One special obtained by Us Weekly, Janelle, 56, shared her take on Woolley’s comments.

“When I saw David [on the show], it just made my stomach just turn because I think it’s wrong to paint everybody with the brush of your one experience,” she told host Sukanya Krishnan.

“I’m not denying that his sister had this experience,” she admitted. “I think lots of things happen in monogamy. I think lots of things happen in all kinds of relationships that can be really screwed up.”

Meanwhile, Krishnan asked Christine, 53, if she agreed with Woolley’s “perception of polygamy” to which the reality TV personality admitted, “it’s hard” because “I have family that still lives it.”

“But then it comes down to it, he’s right. He’s right,” Christine confessed, referring to Woolley. “I see more sadness in polygamy than anything else. I look at so many polygamous families, and they don’t look happy. It’s just sad.”

“It’s like what is the secret sauce here that convinces women to be OK with their husband having this other relationship with this other woman, ‘but it makes you better, so it’s OK,'” she remarked.

Christine noted that polygamy is just “part of my culture,” and Krishnan asked if she was “indoctrinated.”

“Probably,” Christine replied, to which Woolley agreed and chimed in, “If this is supposed to be some righteous thing, why is it so miserable? So how is it so right?”

As Star previously reported, Christine and Janelle were in a spiritual plural marriage with their ex Kody Brown, Meri Brown and Robyn Brown. Christine left Kody in 2021, Janelle left in 2022, and Meri exited the marriage in 2023. Robyn is Kody’s only remaining wife.
