Secret Service Disputes Erika Kirk Threat Claims After ‘Turning Point USA’ Event Cancellation
Erika Kirk is facing new scrutiny after canceling a high-profile appearance as officials push back on the reason behind her decision.
Kirk, 37, was scheduled to appear alongside Vice President JD Vance at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia on April 14. But she pulled out hours before, citing security concerns after receiving what a TPUSA spokesman described as “very serious threats,” per Fox News in an April 14 report.
“I take my security team’s recommendations extremely seriously,” Kirk told her followers on X moments before the event was scheduled to take place.
However, a new report from CBS News on April 15 tells a different story: According to a Secret Service source, there were no “credible threats” tied to the event or venue, and officials considered the site secure.
Still, sources told the outlet that Kirk may have received hostile or threatening messages online, but none were deemed actionable by federal authorities.
The conflicting accounts have fueled backlash online, with Candace Owens publicly questioning Kirk’s motives.
“This is exhausting. You pulled out because of bad ticket sales,” Owens shot back on X moments after Kirk withdrew from the event.
The controversy comes months after the tragic death of Kirk’s husband, Charlie Kirk, leaving many to wonder what really prompted the sudden cancellation.
