A time-travelling hero (Sam Rockwell) arrives at a diner on a quest to save the world from the excesses of artificial intelligence. He’s seen the future, when machines are in charge and humans are enslaved or forced into hiding.

He tries to recruit the patrons to join him, like Ingrid (Haley Lu Richardson), who’s lost her boyfriend to his virtual-reality headset, and a teacher (Michael Peña), whose students get violent if their phones are taken away. While it has a very timely message, this sci-fi horror-comedy adventure avoids being preachy and instead leans into the “have fun” part of its title.
