Prince Louis Celebrates 7th Birthday with Portrait Shoot and a Behind-the-Scenes Video
Wonder what the Tooth Fairy left him! To mark Prince Louis’ seventh birthday, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, shared a new photo of her youngest child — showcasing his missing front teeth! “Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday!” the 43-year-old captioned the cute pic, sent from her account with husband Prince William, 42, April 23.
For years, shutterbug Kate snapped the birthday portraits of the little royals herself, sharing shots of Prince George, 11, and 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, usually taken outside Anmer, their country estate in Norfolk, England. But occasionally, the princess, who completed chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer in September, has passed the duties over to some of her favorite photographers.
This time, Josh Shinner captured the beaming tot seated in front of a patch of bluebells. The prince is dressed in an open-neck shirt, a dark green sweater and casual jeans. Notably, it’s the first time he’s worn long pants in a birthday shot. That may have been a birthday gift: Per British upper-class tradition, boys wear shorts until they’re 8.
Fourth in line to the throne, Louis is known for his silly antics, often making faces during solemn royal occasions – he even stuck out his tongue at well-wishers after his great-mother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
He continued to show his cheeky side in a video released by Kensington Palace after the official photo. In the behind-the-scenes clip, Louis mugs for the camera and brags about climbing a fallen log. “I can jump down from there,” he says to the photographer, before doing just that. He’s just as rambunctious at home, where William recently revealed he’s learning the drums: “That’s why I spend my en- tire life with my fingers in my ears!”
