The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which is under the Home Office, has ordered a threat assessment for the Duke of Sussex, 41, according to a report published Sunday, December 7, by The Sun.
Ravec is currently having the Risk Management Board reassess Harry’s threat level for the first time since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as working royals in 2020, per the outlet.
“The UK government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate,” a government spokesperson said in a statement, per the outlet. “It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
In a sit-down interview with the BBC that month, the Spare author revealed whether or not he would be comfortable taking Meghan, 44, and their kids, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, to his home country.
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” Harry said in the interview.
However, now that Harry may get the security he needs, he is seemingly a step closer to taking his family to England.
Harry himself traveled to London in September and reunited with his father, King Charles III, ending the 19-month estrangement.
In an interview with The Guardian that month, Harry was asked, “Would he like to spend more time in the UK? To bring his children one day, despite the issues over his security arrangements?” to which he responded, “Yes I would. This week has definitely brought that closer.”
