Despite declaring that motherhood is “fabulous,” the actress, mom of 10-month-old Kaya, revealed that she’s suffering from postpartum depression, just like her Nashville character, Juliette Barnes, and has checked into treatment to get help. But insiders tell Star they worry that her reasons may go beyond baby blues.

But clearly she hasn’t, especially if depression is masking other issues. “It’s not at all common for patients who suffer from postpartum depression to check themselves into rehab or receive in-patient hospitalization,” explained Massachusetts licensed marriage and family therapist Dr. Karen Ruskin.

“Only when patients show symptoms of severe postpartum—suicidal or homicidal tendencies or thoughts, self-injury—do they get in-house treatment,” adds Dr. Ruskin.

Whatever her malady, friends and family are praying that Hayden returns from rehab happier and healthier. “Everyone is hoping she comes out of this in a much better place,” says a source. “She does want to be a good mother and clearly wants to get help before things get too out of control.”
