James Van Der Beek is not letting cancer get him down.
On Monday, November 24, the Dawson’s Creek star, 48, posted an Instagram Reel rocking a jersey he’s selling that pays homage to his character in the beloved 1999 film Varsity Blues.
In the video, the ’90s heartthrob modeled the jersey and expertly tossed around a football.
The actor — who went public with his cancer diagnosis in November 2024 — explained in his caption that the proceeds of the jersey sales “go directly toward helping with treatment and supporting families walking the same path.”
Family and fans took to the comment section of the video to gush over how healthy Van Der Beek looked amid his Stage 3 colorectal cancer battle.

“You’re a wizard. Bouncing back baby!! 😍😍😍,” his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, commented.
“Looking Good James. And the jersey is fun. 🏈,” a fan wrote.
“Omg love this!!!! You’re looking great!!” a second fan penned. “Having gone through it myself it is so hard. Super thankful for every day! Many prayers!! 💙 🙏🏻.”
“😍😍😍 Looking strong 💪🏻🙌❤️,” a third fan pointed out.
As Star previously reported, the Dancing with the Stars alum was unable to attend the September Dawson’s Creek reunion in New York City as he was too ill. However, a pre-recorded video of him played at the event, where he looked noticeably frail, causing concern among fans.
Earlier this month, the father of six shared with People that he’s working with Propstore to auction off some memorabilia from his acting projects to help fund his treatment.
“I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now,” Van Der Beek told the outlet.
