Margaret Qualley appeared to be caught off guard when asked about Taylor Swift’s new music.

The Substance star, 30, stopped by the Today show on Wednesday, August 13, to promote her latest projects, Honey Don’t! and Happy Gilmore 2.

At one point, the conversation shifted toward Swift, whose albums 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department were co-produced by Qualley’s husband, Jack Antonoff.

“Perhaps you heard that she has a new album coming out,” host Craig Melvin asked, as Qualley appeared to take a deep breath. “Can you tell us anything about it?”

“I don’t know anything, but we’ll all be excited to listen to the music,” she answered.

“OK, all right,” Melvin, 46, answered.

“OK,” the Maid actress responded, laughing.

The Life of a Showgirl, slated to be released Friday, October 3, was produced by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback, who previously worked with the Grammy winner on Red, 1989 and Reputation. Swift’s 12th studio album is her first in more than a decade without any involvement from Antonoff, 41.

Loyal Swifties have had mixed reactions to learning her longtime collaborator Antonoff would not be involved in this record.

“Listen. i’m a jack antonoff lover. he’s incredibly talented and has produced some of taylor’s best work,” one wrote. “That being said, they were hitting a rut together creatively when it came to production! i’m just so happy that she’s trying something different production wise.”

Meanwhile, others were excited to see the “Fortnite” singer, 35, move in a different direction. “God bless taylor swift has been freed from the shackles of jack antonoff maybe this album will actually be listenable,” another wrote.

As Star previously reported, Swift appeared on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights in an episode that aired on Wednesday, August 13, and dished on everything from her love of sourdough bread to working on The Life of a Showgirl.

“The three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I’ve ever done before,” she explained of Martin and Shellback, noting: “It felt like catching lightning in a bottle.”
