Prince William and Princess Kate marked the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in a meaningful way.
On Monday, September 8, the royal couple visited the National Federation of Women’s Institute in Sunningdale, Berkshire. Her Majesty the Queen was a significant part of the WI, having been a member for 80 years, and serving as president of the Sandringham WI from 2003 until her death.
According to the WI website, the organization was founded in 1915 and “set out to give women a voice and to be a force for good in the community.”
“We campaign nationally on a wide range of issues and provide life-long learning and self-development opportunities for women in England and Wales,” the website reads.

The Prince of Wales, 43, donned a suit while the Princess of Wales, also 43, wore a plaid grey and black dress for the visit. Kate also went back to her signature brown hair with highlights, a departure from the blonde locks she debuted in August.
“Three years ago my grandmother passed away, I know she was a big part of the WI and she used to talk about it a lot, so this is a huge honour for me,” William remarked at the event, per the BBC.
“I can’t quite believe it’s three years already,” he added.
On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She was 96 years old.
