Fans are coming to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s defense after her appearance on a recent red carpet was scrutinized.
On Monday, July 14, the ’90s starlet, 46, dazzled in a beaded black dress at the premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer, in which she reunites with her former costar Freddie Prinze Jr.
However, the Can’t Hardly Wait actress was met with criticism regarding her looks, prompting fans to take to X to point out that she looks fabulous.
“Jennifer Love Hewitt looks great, people need to stop comparing people to their younger versions, we all change over time,” one fan wrote. “She’s beautiful.”
“Sorry she didn’t consult Photoshop before aging naturally,” a second fan commented.
“Idk what you all are talking about Jennifer Love Hewitt looks amazing!” a third fan penned. “You all are just a bunch of haters and think real women look like damn cartoon characters.”

The Ghost Whisperer alum — who starred in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer alongside Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe — was seemingly unfazed by the commentary involving her appearance, taking to Instagram to share videos of herself doing the rounds to promote the horror movie.
“Okay here I am. I’m getting ready to do a very important podcast, can you guess? What are you waiting for?” Hewitt said in the video while winking and using her famous catchphrase from the 1997 film.
Hewitt has addressed the online chatter about her appearance in the past.
On her birthday in February, Hewitt posted a makeup-free selfie with no filter on Instagram and shared her candid thoughts about aging in the caption.
“I have experienced and seen how the world can be cruel to women as they age and yet seen the women I admire become happier, sexier and more powerful with every added number,” she wrote. “I am so deeply grateful for this life. I love all who choose to do it by my side and I am ready to give love today to the younger me and the older me because they are my ride or die’s.”

Back in December 2023, Hewitt appeared on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast and admitted, “aging in Hollywood is really hard,” and that “you can’t do anything right.”
Hewitt — who shares daughter Autumn, 11, and sons Atticus, 10, and Aidan, 3, with husband Brian Hallisay — also addressed how some people seem to want to keep her frozen in her 20s.
“I’m a mother of a girl, and it’s dangerous what we put on people,” she remarked. “It’s dangerous, I think, to say to women, ‘You can’t look like you’re not 22 to me anymore,’ because I don’t know how to take that. Okay, well that’s your problem—because I’m 44, and this is what I look like.”
She also noted that she wasn’t self-confident in her early 20s and was labeled “sexy” before she fully understood what that even meant.
“It’s weird for me when people are like, ‘That’s the girl we wanted you to be,’ and I’m like — that girl was so insecure, so confused, and trying her best,” she said at the time. “But this girl, who may not look the way [you want] — I like who I am. I feel good. I’m fine.”
