In a New York Times interview published Thursday, March 26, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, 62, revealed that she received a call in the winter of 2024 from a man she once dated, and he told her that he was being considered to play Anthony Radziwill in the new show about John F. Kennedy Jr.
Though she didn’t name the actor who auditioned for the role, Carole told the publication she was driving through Manhattan when she got his phone call.
The author said that the man (whom she reportedly went on a few dates with years ago) asked her if she had any recordings of her late husband — who died of cancer on August 10, 1999, just days after his 40th birthday — that she could share with him ahead of his audition.
Erich Bergen was ultimately cast to play Anthony Radziwill in Love Story.

The Bravo TV personality is back in the headlines now that JFK Jr.’s highly publicized marriage with Carolyn Bessette has made its way back into the cultural zeitgeist due to the Ryan Murphy FX series.
She does not appear in Love Story despite being married to Anthony, a cousin of JFK Jr. and nephew of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, from 1994 until his death in 1999.
In 2005, Carole released her memoir What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship, and Love, which looks back on her marriage to Anthony and the devastating deaths of JFK Jr. and his wife as well as the loss of her husband to cancer a month later.
