Brad Pitt is at His Most Charismatic in Summer’s Must-See Film, ‘F1 The Movie’
Brad Pitt is at his charismatic best in F1 as Sonny Hayes, a Formula 1 once-was who’s now a has-been. A gambling addict, he’s been living in a trailer and surviving by slumming it as an occasional driver for NASCAR events.
But he gets a second chance when an old friend, the owner of a struggling F1 team (Javier Bardem), convinces him to mentor up-and-comer Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
Of course, the rookie and the old-timer clash almost immediately, as do Sonny and Kate (Kerry Condon), the team’s technical director…until their sparks catch fire, romantically speaking.
F1 has all the hallmarks of a must-see summer popcorn movie — a blockbuster-size budget (reportedly $300 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever), edge-of-your-seat action scenes and a tug-at-your-heartstrings story of redemption.
