Blake Lively and Taylor Swift were seemingly surprised that Justin Baldoni was on board to use the pop star’s hit track “My Tears Ricochet” in the It Ends with Us trailer.
Amid the 38-year-old actress’s ongoing sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against the Jane the Virgin star, 41, private text messages between her and Swift, 36, have been released.
In a series of texts sent in April 2024, the Gossip Girl alum and the singer-songwriter discuss how they think it wasn’t shrewd of Baldoni to use Swift’s music.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner texted Lively that “if Justin was strategic,” then “He would be like no Taylor swift in the trailer,” explaining “Because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally not his,” per court documents obtained by Star.
Lively agreed with Swift’s thoughts on the matter, replying, “Get yourself a best friend who thinks like the actual Roman Empire.”

“His misogyny runs so deep he thinks women are incapable of winning chess matches or making long game power plays,” Swift added.
“You are so right. And so wickedly smart to call it,” Lively responded. “He should’ve run from your music. I never thought about that. But holy s**t. How stupid. This was his only shot at having the appearance of an upper hand.”
