Blake Lively Asked Taylor Swift to Fake Excitement Over ‘It Ends With Us’ Scene to ‘Clown’ Justin Baldoni

Taylor Swift may dominate music, but newly unsealed court documents hint she’s a good actor, too.

Private text messages between Swift and her longtime friend Blake Lively have surfaced as part of the sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit Lively filed against the film’s director and costar, Justin Baldoni. The 2024 movie — which features Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet” — is now at the center of an increasingly messy legal battle.

The pop star’s name appears in the lawsuit because she and Lively discussed Baldoni’s alleged behavior during production. Now, those conversations have been unsealed.

In a text exchange dated April 12, 2023, in court documents obtained by Star, Lively told Swift she was currently with Baldoni, whom she referred to as her “doofus director,” and asked the singer for a “huge favor.”

“Can you tell him you’re excited for the movie? That you read the book but what you’re freaking out over is the pages I sent you. What a magnetic scene that is. Or whatever descriptives you’re comfortable w[ith],” Lively, 38, wrote to Taylor at 1:30 pm.

Lively made it clear Swift didn’t need to actually read the scene, adding it was a “quick read” only if she had time. She then vented about Baldoni’s reaction to the rewrite she had worked on.

“He’s a clown and thinks he’s a writer now and got this rewrite and told me he appreciates my passion. That’s it. So having the greatest living story teller unknowingly echo to him how much you love what we’re doing (giving him credit as if he wrote them with me) will go such a long way,” Lively continued.

Swift, who was on her way to meet Lively in person, responded, “I’ll do anything for you !!”

By 3 p.m. that afternoon, Swift texted Lively that she was nearby.

Later that night, at 8:40 p.m., Lively thanked Swift for being “so epically heroic today.”

“I recapped every moment to Ryan,” Lively wrote, seemingly referring to her husband, Ryan Reynolds. “I kept remembering stuff—You making shit up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it. You are the worlds absolute greatest friend ever. I won the lottery.”

Swift returned the praise, replying, “I WON THE LOTTERY. You are the COOLEST PERSON IN THE WORLD and you like me !!”

According to Lively, the meeting didn’t end without tension. She claimed Baldoni offended her when he told Swift that he “doesn’t know pop culture” — a comment she said crossed a line.

“That made me more mad than anything he’s done to me,” Lively wrote to Swift.

The resurfaced messages come as fans continue to speculate about the current state of Lively and Swift’s friendship. While the two were once frequently seen together, Swift has appeared to keep her distance publicly in recent months — attending fiancé Travis Kelce’s NFL games without Lively — fueling questions about whether the longtime friends are still as close as they once were.
