Hilaria Baldwin revealed she and her husband, Alec Baldwin, were paid a staggering amount of money for photos of their first few children roughly 12 years ago when paparazzi interest in their growing family was through the roof.
Speaking on the Wednesday, December 10, episode of The Viall Files podcast, Hilaria explained how she and Alec approach letting their seven children be public-facing, given their respective high profiles.
“I don’t think there’s a right answer, but I found that the more I [didn’t share photos], the more paparazzi there were. The culture — even though 12 years ago is not a long time — it was very different back then,” the Dancing with the Stars alum explained. “So I sold the first photos of the first few kids.”
When asked how much the photos sold for, Hilaria confessed it was a shocking $95,000. However, she didn’t pocket the money. Instead, she did something a bit more altruistic.

“I donated it to an organization in Mallorca, where my family lives. It was for children who have been sexually abused,” she explained. “So I wanted to say, ‘OK, here’s the system. Somebody’s going to make money off of this. Whether they’re chasing them down the street, there’s money to be had and I’m going to put that in a good place.’”
Hilaria also stated that there hasn’t been as much interest in photos of her kids as time has gone on. She revealed that advice from another famous friend helped her understand how to balance giving the public a little bit to maintain more privacy.
“I just started sharing them on Instagram. It went from tons of people trying to get this photo to, I put it on there. What I learned from somebody who’s much more famous than me is the more that you put the photo up, the lower the bounty is and the less harassment you get,” she said.

The duo shareCarmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo “Edu”, 5, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 3. Alec also shares daughter Ireland, 30, with ex Kim Basinger.
The TV personality — who starred in TLC’s The Baldwins with her family — also explained how having fewer paparazzi around has helped her husband be more relaxed.
“It was tremendous mental distress on Alec, who has a lot of trauma. It would really bother him and get us into not-fun situations,” Hilaria revealed. “So I was just like, ‘This is better.’ So that’s why I do what I do.”
