It looks like one season was enough for Jenny McCarthy! ABC announced on Thursday that the actress will not be returning to The View for a second go, and more shockingly, that Sherri Shepherd also won’t be coming back next year.
“The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively,” the network said in a statement.
With Barbara Walters retiring from the show last month, Whoopi Goldberg is currently the only remaining cast member. Sherri’s departure comes after seven seasons as a cohost.
“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on,” she announced. “I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.”
From the looks of it, things are going just fine for the ladies leaving. Sherri took to Instagram after the announcement to post a smiling picture of herself with Jenny and the actress’ fiance, Donnie Wahlberg. “Mr @DonnieWahlberg always takes care of his ladies@jennyannmccarthy & me! To be continued… ;O).”
Meanwhile, Jenny took to her Twitter to write, “If Sherri goes… I go too. #sisters. My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year.”
