On the premiere of True Tori Tuesday night, Tori Spelling listened in apparent shock as her husband, Dean McDermott, admitted to cheating on her repeatedly. Thus begins the emotional series that depicts the actress as the long-suffering, self-sacrificing mother of four, despite the fact that her entire world is falling apart — but does True Tori tell the real story?
Star has learned that away from the public eye, the 40-year-old abuses prescription drugs, ignores her kids and obsesses endlessly over her image. “Tori paints herself as the perfect mom, but her version of reality is nothing but distortion,” a source close to the couple, who passed a polygraph test, says.
In fact, the source reveals that the reason Tori is trying so hard to work things out with Dean is because he takes on most of the parenting duties. “If Dean left, she’d have to learn to cook, read stories, and be a good mom,” the friend explains. “She’d lose her worst employee.”
Meanwhile, Dean comes off as the bad guy, but the pal says the Beverly Hills 90210 star is no angel. “She abuses pain pills,” the source, who witnessed her “popping Vicodin with wine,” reveals.
For the most part, the source adds, Tori likes the idea of marriage and children more than she actually likes the job. “Her image is more important to her than being a loving wife and mother,” the insider spills. “It’s all for show.”
