Jennifer Lopez is headed to the small screen — and not just for American Idol! The singer has signed on to star in and executive produce a new drama called Shades of Blue on NBC.
In the show, the 44-year-old will play a single mother and detective who gets recruited to work for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. While juggling motherhood with work, her character struggles with the moral dilemma of working against her fellow cops. Ryan Seacrest will also serve as an executive producer.
Jennifer is currently a judge on Season 13 of American Idol. This will be her first return to scripted television since a one-episode guest spot on How I Met Your Mother in 2010. In 1994, she was a series regular on the series Second Chances.
