During the 2013 awards season, Jennifer Lawrence won the public over by proving to be relatable time and time again. That culminated at the Academy Awards, where she won for Best Actress, and tripped while walking onstage to collect her award.
The 23-year-old is one of six actors to cover W’s February 2014 issue, and she opened up about what caused the tumble.
“I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, ‘Cakewalk, cakewalk cakewalk,'” she explained. “I thought, ‘Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head?’ And then, as I started to walk up the stairs, and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You’re supposed to kick the dress out while you walk and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.”
This year, Jennifer has already scored a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe Award nomination for her role in American Hustle, and it’s expected that she’ll get her third Oscar nomination for the performance, as well.
