The casting rumors can officially come to a rest! On Monday, 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James announced the actors who will be playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of her hit series.
“I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she tweeted. Moments later, she added, “The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.”
Charlie is best known for his role on Sons of Anarchy, while Dakota has appeared on Ben and Kate, as well as in the films The Five Year Engagement and 21 Jump Street.
Rumors about who would star in this film have been floating around the Internet for a year. However, those behind the scenes of the film did a pretty good job at keeping things under wraps, because Charlie and Dakota were never in any of the casting reports. The movie is currently due out on Aug. 1, 2014.
