Yikes — Natalie Portman has been replaced…by a fellow Academy Award winner! Marion Cotillard is reportedly taking over the lead role of Lady Macbeth in the new film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Natalie was originally attached to the project, starring alongside Michael Fassbender, who is still in the mix for the movie’s leading male role.
Since giving birth to her son, Aleph, in June 2011, the Black Swan actress has yet to have a new movie debut. That’ll change soon, though, as she’ll star in Thor: The Dark World, due out in November. She’ll also be front-and-center in Jane Got a Gun, hitting theaters in 2014.
Production for Macbeth is set to begin at the beginning of next year.
