Talk about dedication! Up-and-coming actress Shailene Woodley made a major transformation on Friday, when she chopped off her hair for her upcoming, starring role in The Fault in Our Stars. The 21-year-old plays a cancer patient named Hazel in the movie adaptation of John Green’s novel.
Along with her dedication to the movie role, Shailene also helped a good cause with her haircut. The Spectacular Now star donated her locks to Children With Hair Loss, an organization that takes eight or more inches of hair for children who have lost their own locks, without charging money for the wigs.
“work in progress… but luckily, #itgrowsback !!! : ),” the actress tweeted, with a photo of her new ‘do.
Shailene made a name for herself as the star of ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but started to be considered as a more serious actress when she starred alongside George Clooney in 2011’s The Descendants. In 2014, she’ll also star in the movie adaptation of the popular novel Divergent.
