Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey both have families and separate lives these days, but at one point, they were a pop power couple who helped jumpstart the reality television craze with their show Newlyweds.
But just because Jessica and Nick had a major connection in their past, doesn’t mean their families will be hanging out anytime in the future (even if their kids are close in age). In fact, Nick revealed in an interview that it’s been years since he’s even talked to his ex-wife.
“Honestly…probably six years,” he admitted. “It was like another lifetime ago.”
Nick and Jessica began dating in 1999, and married in October 2002. Their life as a newly married couple was enviable on their reality show, but clearly there was more going on behind the scenes, because the hot duo divorced in December 2005. Hey, that means they spoke at least once in the first two years after their split, right?
While it’s great that Nick and Jess are both happy now, it’s hard to not reminisce on the Newlyweds era and remember them as the way they were back then. Click through the gallery to relive some of their sweetest moments!
