Last week, Selena Gomez announced that she’d be canceling her upcoming tour dates in Australia to “spend some time on myself.” But a friend tells Star that the problem is more serious than simply needing a break!
According to the insider, trouble began for the former Disney darling when she shed her good-girl image to star in Spring Breakers, a film about four girls’ descent into drugs and violence. After filming wrapped, the singer reportedly continued the partying with costars Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens.
“Her friends and family are worried that there might be a serious problem,” the pal says. “They want to help her — and if that means getting her into a discreet rehab, that’s what they will do.”
Selena’s rep denies the claims, and says she has “no plans or reason whatsoever to enter rehab.” The 21-year-old also took to Instagram to share how time off is already doing the trick. “I’m the happiest I’ve been in a while..,” she wrote. “So blessed and thankful for the future, for release and to finally be happy for those I loved..”
No word yet on if she’ll reschedule the canceled tour dates.
