Lea Michele Opens Up: How Kate Hudson Helped Her After Cory Monteith's Death

Kate Hudson & Lea Michele

It’s no secret that the Glee cast leaned on one another after the sudden passing of their castmate Cory Monteith over the summer. However, the actor’s real life and on-screen girlfriend, Lea Michele, reveals in a new interview how Season 4 costar Kate Hudson really helped her during the difficult time.

“I called her and said, ‘I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters],” she explains. “She was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there. I’ll never be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.”

On the subject of her late boyfriend’s death, Lea adds, “I never thought I would be in this position in my whole life. Now that I am in this position, you can choose to rise, and that’s what I’m going to try to do. I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people.”

Cory died of an accidental drug overdose in July. In mid-October, Glee aired an emotional tribute episode for the 31-year-old actor, which addressed the death of his character, Finn. On Thursday, the show will return from a brief hiatus.
