With her ex-boyfriend, Matt Prokop, ordered to keep 100 yards away, Sarah Hyland is ready to be back in the public eye. The Modern Family star appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show Tuesday, where she opened up a bit more about how she got through the adversity that came with being in an abusive relationship.
“People have to go through things to become the person that they are today, and that’s that,” she told the show’s host, who’s previously admitted to being a victim of abuse herself.
The 23-year-old also shared two quotes that she’s come to live by during the difficult times. “One is a Dylan Thomas poem,” she explained. “‘Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light,’ which is one of my favorite poems. It just strikes a chord in me. And also, Robert Frost: ‘The only way out is through.'”
As Star first reported, Sarah filed for a restraining order against Matt after multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse. The couple broke up in August.
