Travis Kelce, a wildly successful football player who is engaged to billionaire pop starTaylor Swift, was thinking about how nice it would be to hit the lottery.
During a Thursday, December 25, press conference following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Christmas Day football game against the Denver Broncos, the 36-year-old tight end — who is rumored to soon be retiring from the sport — was asked if he thought this game could be his last at Arrowhead Stadium.

“No,” the football star told reporters following the Chiefs’ loss. “The only time it ever crossed my mind is [when] I was driving in the other day, and I saw how much the Powerball was, and I was like, ‘Man, if I could just win that, I wouldn’t have to work another day of my life.”
As people in the room began to laugh, one person followed up by asking Kelce, “That’s what’s keeping you here?”
“No, man,” Kelce replied. “Honestly, I’ve been just focused on trying to win football games, man. I’ll let that be a decision that I make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization, when the time comes.”

CBS News reported that the Powerball’s Christmas Eve jackpot of $1.817 billion was the second-largest U.S. lottery prize ever. The sole winner, who has not been publicly identified, purchased the ticket outside of Little Rock, Arkansas.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Kelce is worth approximately $90 million and makes a salary of $17 million. His fiancée, whom he became engaged to over the summer, is reportedly worth over $1.5 billion.
The New Heights podcaster has played for the Chiefs since 2013, but in recent days, everyone is curious about the pro athlete’s future.

Even brother Jason Kelce — who announced his retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2024 — weighed in on his brother’s career when asked if he had any “sense” of how the Chiefs player will decide what to do.
“In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit,” Jason, 38, said. “It’ll come to you with time.”
