Is it really summer without a new season of The Summer I Turned Pretty?

On Thursday, June 12, Prime Video released the trailer for the third and final season of the hit romantic drama based on Jenny Han‘s book trilogy — and fans are freaking out.

The nearly three-minute video set to Taylor Swift‘s “Daylight” and “Red” is jam-packed with content and, most importantly, reveals that Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) and Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) do get engaged, just as they do in the book series.

The trailer also shows that the love triangle between Jeremiah, Belly, and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) is alive and well.

“When I’m with Jere, everything is easier, but everywhere I go, there’s a memory of Conrad,” Belly admits.

Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their collective excitement and shock about the upcoming season.

“BELLY AND JEREMIAH GETTING MARRIED WHAT…,” one fan commented.

A second fan added, “WDYM BELLY AND JERE PLAN TO GET MARRIED I’M SORRY SHE CAN’T END UP WITH CONRAD AFTER THAT??????”

“Ok I watched it again and I’m so freakin excited and emotional” a third fan admitted.

“How am I supposed to act normal about this for the next month?” another fan questioned. “I don’t think I can.”

Season 3 features a significant time jump from season 2, as Belly and Jeremiah will be finishing up their junior year of college, according to Amazon. The trailer also shows that Conrad has built a life for himself in California.

In May, Han, 44, sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly and said that the season 3 storyline will be different from the final book, We’ll Always Have Summer.

“There are definitely changes,” she told the outlet. “There are surprises. And there are things that aren’t exactly like the books.”

The author explained she wants to keep viewers who read the books on their toes as well.

“A true show-watching experience where they find themselves with bated breath being like, ‘What’s going to happen next?’ That’s an experience worth protecting. Whether they want me to or not,'” she told the publication.

She added that she can’t please everyone as Belly will have to choose one of the two brothers.

“A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken,” Han remarked. “Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there’s no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone’s going to be hurt by it.”

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty premieres Wednesday, July 16 on Prime Video.
