Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham has come under fire for allowing her daughter, Sophia, to experiment with new body modifications.
Farrah, who first gained fame on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant when she was pregnant with Sophia as a teen, showed her support for her daughter’s latest look.
“New body modzzz belly piercing and ear gauges 🖤,” Sophia, 16, captioned an Instagram selfie showing off her new look — a mirror photo snapped by Farrah that showed the teen posing with her mom and her tattoo artist, known online as Dr. Reverend Sideshow. Sophia also praised Farrah in the caption as the “best mother ever.”
“Wild fun belly ring matching & first steps on ears 👂,” Farrah, 34, commented on the post.
In the photo, Sophia wore a black bralette that highlighted her new belly button ring. She also sported a full face of makeup, including bold, black eyeshadow and black lipstick.
“That is the loudest cry for help I’ve ever seen,” one Instagram user reacted on the post.

Others criticized Farrah directly. “As a mother we sometimes need to set boundaries. You need to be a mother first and then a friend. Why do you indulge her with this 💩,” one person wrote.
“Kids who get everything they want never learn to appreciate the small things because it’s just meh to them,” another user added. “I’m all for supporting your kids but kids need boundaries too! They need a parent not a bestie!”
Another commenter agreed, writing: “Ok there’s a stopping point where you have to choose to be a parent or friend. She’s so young to be doing all these things. That’s why there are age limits.”
One user joked that Sophia is “Farrah 2.0,” while another said Sophia is “far too young to be modifying her body as much as she is.”
This isn’t the first time Farrah has been called out for her daughter’s body modifications. Last month, the reality star alum made headlines after Sophia revealed a tattoo of bats across her stomach.

As with the tattoo, not all reactions to Sophia’s piercing and ear gauges were negative. Some followers praised Farrah for encouraging her daughter’s self-expression.
“I love how you let her explore her style and allow her to be herself. I once didn’t agree with you in your younger years but i love following your journey and the mom and women you have become,” one fan wrote, tagging Farrah.
“I love the emo goth stage! I lived mine and the fact her and her mom are spending time TOGETHER ❤️❤️ I love that she accepts her daughters style😍,” another added.
The mother-daughter duo also made headlines in September when she announced her plans to send Sophia to a trauma center for her 18th birthday — something she did herself in 2022.
